Wendy MacNaughton and I recently met through our mutual and very talented friend Lisa Congdon and hit it off immediately. Soon after our meeting, the UK publication Never Underdressed asked for shots of Wendy and her studio for their Artist in Residence column. Kismet!!
Following are a selection of my most favorite shots from our time together… there are more and a MOST wonderful article on Wendy here (though I would refer to her as an Illustrator rather than a Cartoonist – is that a UK thing?). It matters not! Talent is talent, says me…
.
lovely, lovely Wendy.
watercolors.
detail from her ongoing ‘everyone I’ve ever met and through whom’ piece.
self explanatory (and she admits not all-inclusive ha!).
her old timer portrait (I love love love him).
her “always dirty windows” with a view.
(perfect) random detail.
the floors, the shoes, the rug… sigh.
.
It was supposed to be a quick hour, it turned into three. We were so busy sharing our stories we almost forgot why we were there (we had to make and continuously check our shot list to keep from completely sidetracking). It was supposed to be a few photos, it turned into lots and lots.
And I was reminded, yet again, how blessed I am to have the opportunity to do this work… and to have a life filled with such interesting, talented, exquisite humans.
Blessed I tell you.
